Cardio Is Great — But It’s Not the Whole Picture

You’ve probably heard it before:

“If you want to lose fat, just do more cardio.”

And hey — we get it. Running, biking, or jumping on the elliptical for 45 minutes feels like the go-to move when you want to “burn calories” and slim down. Cardio is accessible, sweat-inducing, and it gives you that I worked hard today feeling.

But if your goal is sustainable fat loss, there’s something else you need to be doing:

strength training.

Why Cardio Alone Doesn’t Cut It

Here’s what most people don’t realize:

Yes, cardio burns calories — during the workout. But that’s where the benefits mostly stop.

Strength training, on the other hand, builds lean muscle — and muscle is metabolically active tissue. That means it helps you burn more calories all day long, even at rest.

In other words:

🟢 Cardio = temporary calorie burn

🟢 Strength training = long-term metabolic boost

So while cardio can be helpful, it’s strength training that truly moves the needle for fat loss and overall body composition.
